Lamp Love at Target

November 4, 2013 § Leave a comment

Yesterday (Nov. 3) Target introduced their Threshold Mercury Glass lamp base ($49.99) and candle holders ($14.99-$17.99 each) which will be available until Dec. 24. These items are a part of their special holiday collection and I have been excited to tell you about them since I got the press release back at the end of September! Once of the things I love about Target (and I am not paid by them so you can take this as my personal opinion!) is that you can get something super stylish for a great value! I am all about getting the most for my money, as I know my readers are, too–and right now they are having a buy one get one 30% off decor sale. Bulls-eye, Target!

As always, thanks for stopping by! Come say hi on our Facebook and Instagram, too 🙂 XOXO Jen

Jonathan Adler coming to Georgetown

Just a quick little post to keep all my DC people up to date! Jonathan Adler is almost ready to open its doors in Georgetown! I walked by yesterday and tried to get in but they said they were putting the finishing touches on the store and they would be open “tomorrow or the next day.” So, if you aren’t familiar with Adler’s designs or if you’re his #1 fan, go check out his new store in G-town! It’s right off M and Wisconsin. Yay! I can’t wait!

Flamant Interiors in Brussels

April 5, 2012 § 1 Comment

Hi everyone! I’m enjoying my time in Brussels despite not being able to sleep until about 2 or 3am and wake up before 11! Yesterday I was in interior design heaven when I found Flamant Interiors. There’s a flower shop in the front (different store) and it makes the entire building smell so wonderful as you walk through. The design style was a perfect mix of modern and shabby chic and I fell in love with so many pieces! Here’s a few images of my
Favorite pieces–enjoy! Oh–and if you go, make sure you stop by all the high-end chocolate shops that surround the store!

The Washington Home & Garden Show: Behind the Scenes with Sasha Andreev

March 21, 2012 § Leave a comment

During the Washington Home & Garden Show at the DC Convention Center I had the exciting opportunity to take a tour of Innovation Avenue, a special row dedicated to some awesome home products that Sasha Andreev, host of HGTV’s Curb Appeal, helped select. Below, we’re standing in front of the Abakus solar panel which is innovative because of its low cost, width (it’s thin and blends in well on your roof unlike many other solar panels) and because it comes in different colors! To me, that’s the most innovative thing about these panels because although we all want to be eco-friendly, we also want to stay stylish!

Probably one of my favorite products I saw was the electric RazarSharp Ultra Trimmer. It’s a city-dweller’s dream because it easily trims and mows our tiny little yards, weighs almost nothing (you can lift it with a finger) and you can easily store it in a closet. For around $110 it seems like a steal to me!

Sasha was kind enough to give a quick demo!

Another great city find was an amazing gravel gardening company called To Soil Less. While I admit I chuckled at the name (I’m very mature!), I was amazed that more people aren’t gardening this way in apartments across America! All you need are some rocks, sand and presto–you can have yourself an easy indoor garden with fresh veggies in no time. I loved that the owner was so passionate about his product and although this wasn’t a part of Innovation Row, it probably would have been if they had put in to be in the running! Definitely go check out their website and try it out for yourself!

I hope you enjoyed this little peek at my tour of the show with Sasha and please feel free to let me know if you know of any great new products out there! I See the Light!

March 12, 2012 § Leave a comment

Hi everyone! I hope you all are dealing with daylight savings time OK! As for me, I really am just fine with losing that hour of sleep because it means I get an extra hour of sunlight in the evenings and I’m so OK with that!

Today I thought it would be appropriate to share a really awesome new lightbulb with you from Areaware, the Plumen 001. It first captured my eye because it looks super-cool all by itself, but then when I read that it was also eco-friendly I liked it even more! This little twisty bulb uses 80% less enery than a traditional incandescent bulb and lasts about eight times longer, according to Areaware. Like with most eco-friendly products, you do have to pay a bit more up-front ($30 a pop, unless you buy 4 or more and then you can get them for $25 each) but the overall savings will be well worth it! With this bulb the estimated yearly energy cost is only $1.71 so I think for the price and energy-savings it’s well worth it! What do you think about these bulbs?

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you all had a great weekend! XO

Modern and Bright! New Lights You’ll Love

January 9, 2012 § Leave a comment

No, these aren’t a new breed of Dyson fans (although I thought those were pretty cool when they came out, too)–they are the latest and greatest LED Lamps out at Foscarini. These  beauties are known as “Anisha” and were designed byLievore Altherr Molina, an amazing Spanish studio (you can check out some of their other projects on their website).” Anisho” means ring en Espanol  and the designers were successful in making this lamp modern, yet feminine with its soft lines…just like a beautiful ring. These caught my eye and I had to share them with you guys! What do you think? Too modern? Could you see one on your desk or side table? They come in two sizes, $591 for the smaller one–perfect for a tabletop–and $800 for the larger–perfect for the floor.

Spotlight! Decorium in Old Town, Alexandria

December 7, 2011 § 2 Comments

This past weekend I headed to Old Town Alexandria for a holiday festival and stopped dead in my tracks when I found Decorium. Their window display made me stop and stare like a little kid who just caught their first glimpse of Santa! Twinkling icicles, snowballs thrown against the window and a showroom filled with glittery snow in piles all over the floor made it feel like a winter wonderland!I’ve attached a slideshow of some of my favorite things I found while browsing! If you get a chance, I would definitely head over to Old Town to browse their amazing collection of holiday decor as well as sneak a peek at some of their bigger ticket items, if you’re in the market!

As always, thanks for reading A Fresh Coat and I hope to see you soon! XOXO
