With all of the snow and cold temps outside I’ve been inside daydreaming about Spring! When I laid my eyes on Mar Y Sol’s Gigi clutch, I had to share it with you! It comes in a variety of bright colors–my favorite of course is the lilac–it made me want to put on a sundress and bask in the glorious sunlight! Since that isn’t happening anytime soon, I thought you might like to daydream with me and check out some of their gorgeous hand-woven raffia, eco-friendly bags! The canary yellow is my second runner-up for a fav color. Visit store.madimports.org to purchase ($69/each).

I have a lot of vegetarian (and a few vegan) friends. I enjoy experimenting with veggie-friendly meals but there’s one thing that’s always plagued me–baking. It’s always seemed like so much extra effort to bake vegan cookies that I’ve never really tried. I can tell you though that I’m excited to give it a whirl thanks to a new book out by 19-year old Kelly Peloza (yes–19!) called The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur.
I’m really excited to try the lemon poppyseed cookies (above) because they just look so delicious!
The author even has a recipe for home-baked treats for man’s best friend–had to put that out there for all you dog lovers!
What I like most about this book is that there is a picture for every cookie! I don’t know about you but I really can’t get excited about a recipe without a picture. I’m also seriously impressed that at 19 Peloza managed to put together and publish such a great book! It’s so easy to follow along and there’s a great Q&A in the beginning of the book that answers questions like how to properly measure flower and what to do if you come up with crumbly dough.
Once my New Year’s cleanse is over (no alcohol and limited sugar) I’ll be sure to let you know how my cookies turned out!
Be sure to check out her blog, here.

A reader sent me an e-mail in response to my last post about some of my favorite finds at the Container Store–and even better, she sent pictures! Here are her ideas on how to easily store–and contain–long, bulky necklaces and her favorite belts.
An Etsy find, below, keeps her necklaces organized and visible so she doesn’t forget what she has. You know what they say “Out of sight, out of mind.” This definitely is no longer an issue for her!
She also sent in this image of her belts–what a great idea–they are neatly tucked away in her drawer but perfectly organized and easy to find and put away!
She also sent me a great tip about the container store–this is especially useful for those of you (like myself) who don’t drive and have to take a hike on the slow, weekend-service metro and want to save time–you can call the Container Store with your order and when you get there it’s all bagged and ready for you to pick up.
Well, thanks for the great tips! Please keep sending in your ideas–I love to see what people are doing to make their lives easier and keep fashionable!

Well, well well! Hello!! Happy New Year to everyone! I know it’s been a while but you know how things get around the holidays…and there’s just too much eating to have any energy leftover for blogging! Well, now that it’s the New Year I’m excited to share some of my favorite things with you.
I am currently working in Arlington, VA, and just this weekend discovered there is a Container Store and a Crate & Barrel very close to my job (they are in Clarendon). I can’t even explain my excitement–even though I need absolutely nothing in my apartment, nor can anything else fit, I still managed to find a few items I fell in love with!
First stop: Container Store
I LOVE organization and find that wall hooks have been my savior in my tiny apartment. I turned my washer/dryer closet into a coat closet (no washer/dryer in my apartment sadly enough) using some hooks and an old bookcase. But I found a hook at the Container Store I just had to have and it goes with my love of trees (see post featuring the beautiful bed made of branches, below)! For $19.99, I think these tree-inspired hooks are a must have–they are made of steel and have a shiny gloss that make them super-modern looking!
My next must-have are these adorable Woodstock tins! They have such a soft look to them but are, well, tins! Perfect for storing office supplies (unruly rubber band balls, Q-tips, etc.) or anything else you want to keep hidden and neat. $12.99/large, $9.99/small.
My next stop was at Crate & Barrel and I found the chaise of my dreams! I’ve always wanted a chaise because I can just picture one next to my fireplace with a small table beside it while I lounge reading Real Simple and have a glass of wine (ok, breathe!). I’ve finally found a chaise I can dream about and see myself slipping into dreamland in, the Scarlet chaise, $1,199.
Well, that’s all for now but I promise to be back more often with more great finds! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and is starting the new year off right!
